Ice Hockey Power Play

Simply put the power play happens when one or two players on one team are sent to the penalty box that is are obliged to leave the ice for some period of time thus giving the other team a one or two man advantage.

In ice hockey a team is said to be on a power play when at least one opposing player is serving a penalty and the team has a numerical advantage on the ice whenever both teams have the same number of players on the ice there is no power play. If a team has multiple penalties they could have to play with three players resulting in a 5 on 3 power play for the other team. Power play hockey league would like to inform all of our members that we have just learned that governor baker through the office of health and human services has ordered the stoppage of all on ice hockey and skating activities in massachusetts for a period of time beginning at 5 00pm on october 23rd and ending at 12 01am on november 7 2020. The hockey power play is when one team receives a penalty and it results in the penalized team having to play short handed for a minimum of two minutes sometimes longer.
