Electric Bike Hub Motor Noise

Twist the throttle and the bike takes off in your arm.

Electric bike hub motor noise. While a motor can be very quiet in one bike humming gently as you ride it can be unpleasantly loud in the frame of a different emtb where the tubeset seems to amplify the noise. Motor noise motor noise is what you hear coming out of the electric motor which is actually a combination of two different noises. My new build uses two hub motors a direct drive hub in the rear and a bafang g311 geared hub known for being quiet compared to a lot of other geared hubs in the front. This may be due to the specific models that we have tested.

When i push the throttle little bit and the i push it for full throttle the motor make terrible noise but if i push full throttle it runs smoothly without any problem. An electric bike can be switched on and no one know because it is silent unlike a gas scooter or motorcycle which make an idling noise. Also related to the noise the power of the bike is less than it used to be. Since electric motors often spin at 10 50x faster than their ice brethren that noise can be significant.

Your pedalling cadence has a direct influence on the motor and how well it s able to assist you. As the bike gets away from the holder the throttle is twisted more intensifying the effect. It comes from the motor. Every electric motor has an optimal pedalling cadence range in which it s able to perform most efficiently.

What cadence does an ebike motor ride best at. When comparing the noise level from a mid drive and gear hub electric motors my experience has been that gear hub e bike motors produce slightly less noise.
